This article explains how to complete the IRAS Amendment form in JustLogin to correct any missing or inaccurate information from an IR8A form that has already been submitted to IRAS.
When to use this: Use the IRAS Amendment form only after you have already submitted an original IR8A file to IRAS and need to correct or add information. Do not use it for first-time submissions. |
How amendments work
An amendment submission does not replace your original IR8A values β it records only the difference between what was originally submitted and the corrected value. This means:
- If a value was under-declared, enter the amount that is still missing (i.e. the shortfall).
- If a value was over-declared, enter the amount as a negative figure (i.e. the excess to be deducted).
- Fields that were correct in the original submission should be left blank.
| Scenario | What to enter in the amendment form |
|---|---|
| A value was missed (under-declared) | Enter the missing amount as a positive figure |
| A value was too high (over-declared) | Enter the excess amount as a negative figure |
| A field was correct in the original submission | Leave blank β do not re-enter the original value |
Steps
Step 1: Go to .
Step 2: Click on IRAS
Step 3: Locate the Other Forms blue button on the right-hand side of the page.
Click it and select IRAS Amendment from the dropdown menu.
Step 4: Find the employee whose details need to be amended and click their name to open the amendment form.
Enter only the difference for the fields that need correcting β do not re-enter amounts that were already correctly declared in the original submission.
Step 5: Click the button at the lower right of the page to save your changes.
To amend another employee, use the employee dropdown at the top of the form to navigate to the next person and repeat the steps above.
Step 6: Once all employees have been updated, return to the main IRAS page to generate a new IR8A XML file. Make sure the Batch Indicator is set to Amendment before generating the file.
Important: Setting the Batch Indicator to Amendment is required. Submitting an amendment file with the wrong batch indicator may cause it to be rejected by IRAS. |
Step 7: After the file has been successfully generated, download the XML file by clicking the icon.
Step 8: Under Tax File Download, click to download the file. You can also preview the contents before downloading by clicking Preview Button
Step 9: Submit the downloaded XML file to IRAS through the myTax Portal in the same way you submitted the original file.
