Configuration - Payroll - AW/OW Opening Balance

The AW/OW Opening Balance page is optional and intended for companies that have just started using JustLogin but do not wish to backdate and reprocess payroll for previous months.

The system treats the amounts entered here as starting balances, which are used to track CPF contribution limits. Once an employee's cumulative Ordinary Wages (OW) or Additional Wages (AW) reaches the annual CPF cap in future pay runs, the system will automatically stop CPF deductions for that employee.

Important: Values entered on the AW/OW Opening Balance page will not appear in any system reports. They are used solely for CPF calculation purposes. However, these amounts will be included in the IR8A form.

When Should You Use This?

Use the AW/OW Opening Balance page if:

  • Your company is onboarding to JustLogin mid-year, and
  • You have already processed payroll for earlier months in another system (e.g., a previous payroll software or manual payroll).

By entering the year-to-date (YTD) figures from your previous system, JustLogin can accurately calculate CPF contributions for the remainder of the year without requiring you to re-enter historical pay runs.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Navigate to Payroll

    Click on PAYROLL.png

  2. Open Configuration

    Select configuration.png

  3. Go to Payroll Settings

    Click on payroll_2.png

  4. Select AW/OW Opening

    Click on aw_opening.png

  5. Set the "As At" Date

Update the As At field to reflect the month of the last payroll processed outside of JustLogin (i.e., in your previous system or via manual payroll).

Example: If your first pay run inside JustLogin is for October 2022, set the As At field to September 2022.

Key Reminders

  • This setup only needs to be done once during onboarding.
  • Ensure figures are sourced from your previous payroll records to maintain accuracy in CPF calculations.
  • Opening balance amounts are not reflected in payroll reports but are included in the IR8A at year-end.
  • If your company starts using JustLogin from the beginning of the year (January), this page is generally not required.
