Split Shift Feature

The Split Shift feature lets you assign multiple work periods within the same day for an employee in the roster. Instead of just having one continuous shift, you can schedule staff to work in separate time blocks on the same day.

For example:

  • In F&B, a staff member can work the lunch service from 11am–3pm and return for dinner service from 6pm–10pm.
  • In Security, a guard might cover a morning shift, take a break, and then return for a night shift.

How to Enable and Use Split Shift:

step 1. To enable this function, put a tick inside the checkbox "Enable Split Shift":

Part 2. Editing a Split Shift

By default, the system splits the work time based on the default shift.

Step 1: To edit the split shift for a specific day, click on the day in the Weekly View. (Note: This can only be done per user, per day.)

Step 2: Change the timing accordingly. The Break Time will be auto-calculated based on the gap between the 1st End Time and the 2nd Start Time.

Step 3: You may also enter remarks if needed.

Part 4. Split Shift Leave Application

Even when a split shift schedule is being used, you can apply for leave on behalf of staff. This means that the split shift setup no longer restricts leave applications, and the process works the same way as it does for a normal schedule.

Part 5. Flexi Break Option

The Flexi Break option under Split Shift settings supports flexible working arrangements by giving employees greater freedom to manage their working hours while maintaining accurate time tracking.

With Flexi Break:

  • The system automatically calculates the 2nd shift start time based on the employee’s 1st clock-out time + break duration.

  • Employees are not restricted to fixed break times and can take breaks at any point during their working hours.

Additional Notes:

  • Flexi Break is only available when Split Shift is enabled.
  • Admins can create Flexi Break during Shift Setup.
  • Once the shift is created and assigned, Flexi Break cannot be updated in Shift Setup due to pre-calculation trigger performance, but it can still be updated from the Split Roster page.
  • In the Monthly Detailed and Individual Attendance reports:

    • If Flexi Break + Default Shift is used → Displayed as Split Shift under the Shift column.
    • If Flexi Break + Shift Name is assigned → Only the Shift Name is displayed.
